A. Warren Nelson, 94, of Orchard Drive, Hope, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at his home surround by his loving family. He was the husband of Agnes W. (Alsheimer) Nelson.
He was born in Providence, a son of the late Arthur G. and Esther E. (Nystrom) Nelson.
Warren was a technician for the U.S. Government Nike Missle Program for over 34 years and later worked for the Scituate School Department in maintenance retiring in 1982 . He was a World War II Army-Air Force veteran. He was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cranston and was an active member on the church council for several years. He was an amateur ham radio operator for over seventy-five years under the radio handle of "W1LWB."
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Eileen Bettez of Dunedin, Florida; two grandsons, Shane Bettez and his wife, Wendy and Seth Bettez along with two great grandchildren, Hunter and Mason Bettez. He was the brother of the late Lester D. Nelson.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 am in the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning 10-11 am.
