Harriet M. Scowcroft Obituary

Harriet M. Scowcroft, 97, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Leland A. and Ruth. She was the wife of the late Wilson C. Scowcroft, and the late SSgt. Melvin E. Peterson who was killed during WWII at Anzio, Italy on March 17, 1944. Harriet was the beloved mother of Thomas W. C. Scowcroft, and Lorraine G. Okerholm and her husband Robert; loving grandmother of Shannan Thomas, Kristy Okerholm, Robert Okerholm Jr., and the late Lorie Okerholm; loving great-grandmother of Jared, Connor, Lauren, and Nicole Thomas. She was the sister of the late Virginia T. Dore. Harriet was employed for 25 years as a bookkeeper and Corporation Secretary of Pawtuxet Paint & Hardware Co. She was one of the original members of the Church of God of Warwick. She served as Trustee, Secretary, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Building Committee Chairperson and other offices over the years. When the Church membership dwindled, the property was sold to the Central Adult Day Care Center of Warwick. She was a member of the Warwick Central Baptist Church following the closing of the Church of God of Warwick.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Monday, January 6, 2020 from 10-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
