Rev. Dr. Ernest S.B. Ward, 82, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021due to complications of the corona virus. He was the beloved husband of Laura A. Ward. Born in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, he was the youngest son of the late Thomas E. and Sarah J. (Anderson) Ward. Rev. Ward was the Pastor of Devine Deliverance Baptist Church in Johnston and formerly worked at IBM for 25 years. He lived in CA, OH and CT before moving to Providence in 2000. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, American Baptist Churches and the Ministers Alliance of RI.
In addition to his wife Laura, he is survived by his children, Sonya J. Bradley, Lawrence S. Ward, Sharee Anissa Kavanagh, Terrence E. Ward, Spencer O. Ward and Jonice E. Ward. Rev. Ward was the brother of William E. Ward, Victor E. Ward and Theodora Ward Jackson. He was the grandfather of Thomas R. Hussey, Savanah R. Hussey, Joshua B. Bradley, Colton J. Woolhouse, Beckham O. Ward, Naima L. Blair, Kyndall J. Ward and Kamryn S. Ward. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1PM in Divine Deliverance Baptist Church, 82 Serrell Sweet Rd., Johnston, RI.
