Robert Lawrence Therrien, 74, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1946 in Attleboro, grew up in Central Falls and Cumberland and moved to North Kingstown when he got married in 1977.
Bob was the son of the late Fred A. and Cecile E. (Vandal) Therrien; husband of Paula-Jean (Willis) Therrien for 43 years; father of Christian Therrien (Meghan Therrien) and Matthew Therrien (Jocelyn Tuttle); grandfather of Ethan and Owen Therrien; brother of Ann Marie Tadlock (Michael Tadlock); and brother-in-law of David Willis (Ann Finn).
Bob served in the Air Force at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson and then earned his bachelor’s degree at Bryant College. He was an accountant at Bancroft Tennis Racket Company, accounting manager at Princess House Inc., controller at L. Vaughn Co. and then, due to his interest in computers, switched to IT during his twenty years at Davol Inc., retiring in 2009. For many years he was treasurer of the South County Montessori School and a boys spring soccer coach in North Kingstown.
Bob grew up very close to his dad. They fished, bowled and played a lot of golf. Bob played fast-pitch softball on an Air Force team and returned to RI a scratch golfer, from his service in Tucson. He met his wife one summer at Bancroft where several members of his own family had worked for many years.
Bob enjoyed fishing and golfing with his sons, and camping at Lake Sebago, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and sailing on Narragansett Bay. He was so proud of his sons who both graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University and went on to careers in computer software. In his older years, Bob spent his days on his computers and watching sports, cooking shows and old sitcoms on TV. He was an excellent cook. He loved the Red Sox. He loved his home. He loved his family.
